FIRESIDE CHATS
Fireside chats is included here as a way for me to share my experiences of and with the fire service. I have published in a number of industry magazines, such as Fire Engineering, Fire Chief, National Fire and Rescue, among others. Some of these articles, if you will, are meant to be read by professionals and include my experience as a fire service manager. Others have been published in more general publications such as the Reader’s Digest and various newspapers. These articles share my experiences as well but are written more from the heart than the mind and have often acted as a catharsis for me. Some of my experiences have been so revealing to me – as to how people treat other people, or how a fire, or a shooting affects a community as well as an individual, or how these tragic events affect me personally – that I have felt compelled to document them in my writing.
I will add some new fire service stories, or articles, on occasion because it is very much a part of my life, still. Probably always will be in some fashion or another. My hope is that readers might learn something when they read them whether it is about a practical aspect of the service, or something more internal, within themselves. |
